In expressive flurries of brightly hued acrylic, Rosalind Tjanyari’s paintings reference the movement and energy of hidden pathways across Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytiga lands – elucidating the connection between Country and people

Both her mother Kanakyia Tjanyari and her grandmother are ngangkari’s (traditional healers.) Though Rosalind did not grow up learning the ngangkari healing practice, hers has been a life lived as a compassionate nurturer to others, holistically helping others within the community. This has partly taken the form of Arts Worker at Iwantja, assisting in the centre’s various workshops, preparing materials for paintings and assisting the older artists.

“I enjoy laughing and having fun. I want other people to enjoy the art centre like I do. It brings us together, working and sharing, and everyone is happy,” says Rosalind, and this joy and ebullience are equally palpable in her work.
