Containment, 2026

acrylic, ochres, ink & tannin on canvas
102 x 153 cm, Timber frame

The tannin lake operates as an isolated system, a body of water darkened not by rupture, but accumulation. Organic matter breaks down slowly, staining water over time, with no exchange to release or dilute it. Like closed institutionalised systems, what is held without circulation becomes dense, opaque and irreversible. The surface remains calm, even beautiful, while entropy quietly increases beneath it.
