Susanna Robinson is an Australian painter working in oil, who is interested in capturing the stillness of private worlds – worlds which encourage us to slow down and to truly appreciate life’s beauty. Susanna trained at the Florence Academy of Art and is inspired by the work of Sir William Nicholson, as well as the Scottish colourists. Margaret Olley’s influence has also helped Susanna to push the boundaries of direct representation in a focus on more directly capturing beauty and light – and she draws constant inspiration from her natural surroundings in Sydney. Susanna’s works are held in collections internationally and have been shown at the Australian High Commission and the Royal Academy in London, the SH Ervin and Tweed River Gallery, and Bathers Pavilion in Sydney.
“My practice is grounded in observing on observing still, harmonious worlds and inviting the viewer to slow down and absorb the beauty of nature. I am drawn to painting what brings me joy, using colour and light as central protagonists. Through subtle shifts and reflections, my painting seeks to create moments of emotional resonance and meaning.” ~ Susanna Robinson
