Eleanor Purseglove’s paintings conjure dreamlike spaces of leisure. Gardens, pools, archways and shaded retreats emerge from the pages of old books and magazines. Working with found imagery, her process is fluid and intuitive. References dissolve and resurface in soft washes and bold architectural lines, revealing places that feel at once familiar and uncanny.
Originally from Birmingham in the UK, Purseglove studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in London before relocating to Melbourne. After years working as a facilitating artist, she returned to her painting practice in earnest, steadily building a distinctive body of work. In 2024, she was named a finalist in the National Emerging Art Prize.
